Electronic position indicators with radio data transmission are particularly suitable for frequent format adjustments and are quick and easy to install. They are connected to the control unit by radio frequency and thus form a wireless system for fast positioning. Control units are required for the function of the system. They form the interface between position indicator and machine control. A target position value is given to the control unit via the machine control and transmitted to the position indicators by radio. The position indicators in turn report their current actual position value back to the control unit. In combination with the machine control system, this ensures that the production cycle does not start in the event of an incorrectly set position on the position indicator, thus avoiding errors in the production process.
