Material:
The telescopic slides are manufactured by milling from cold drawn material of quality C45E + C according to EN 10277.
The standard ball cages are made of galvanized sheet metal.
Carbon steel C85, G100 according to DIN 5401 are used as standard balls.
Tolerances:
The general manufacturing tolerances of telescopic slides are in accordance with js13 standard for bores and linear dimensions. Straightness is 1 mm/m and twist is 1 degree/m.
Standard surface treatment is an electrolytic zinc coating according to ISO 2081, which confirms the European RoHS regulation with a zinc coating of at least 8 and an average of 12 microns
A yellow zinc coating is also available on request.
Operating temperatures:
Standard working temperatures are between -30 and + 110 degrees Celsius. Beyond this temperature range, special adjustments should be made to ensure smooth operation ,e.g. the use of specific grease for high or low temperatures.
Load capacities:
The telescopic slides offer a high load capacity and compact dimensions. The maximum load capacity is given on fully extended pairs of rails, installed in the main axis direction and with the load evenly distributed over the inner rail
The safe working loads per pair given in this catalogue include such a high safety margin that the rails are suitable for multiple applications. The safe working load depends on the extension, the type of carriage and mounting, and the frequency of use/number of cycles. This means that a longer extension distance limits the safe load. When the slides are mounted in a secondary axis arrangement, the safe working load is reduced by approximately 40% depending on the slide.
Installation:
See our product sketches and family tables for key dimensions including drilling diagrams.
Maintenance:
The slide design allows for minimal maintenance operation in most environments. Only under extreme operating conditions will additional maintenance be required.
Mounting in dirty environments:
The telescopic slides are supplied without protection against dust. There is a risk that the presence of contaminants in the rails will quickly cause jamming or premature wear of the rail components. It is therefore important to ensure that the assembly is carried out in an environment that is largely free of dust and particles. Otherwise, external measures for protection must be provided by the user in accordance with the design.
Deflection:
Deflection is elastic deformation measured in mm when the rails are uniformly loaded, fully extended and mounted on the major axis.
The deflection is increased when mounted on the secondary axis.
The maximum deflection of the telescopic rails is 1% of the closed length.
Speeds:
Velocity limits are determined by the mass of the intermediate element that must be pulled by the moving element. The speed decreases as the length of the slide increases. The recommended speed of use of telescopic slides is 0.3 m / s.
Rules for good assembly:
1. Make sure that the slides are parallel and mounted on the main axis.
2. Use all supplied mounting options on the rail.
3. Make sure mounting surfaces are flat and level.
4. Apply evenly distributed load.
5. Align the fronts of the slides
Following the mounting rules will ensure that the slides run smoothly and evenly, and that they will last as long as possible.
When mounted on the auxiliary axis, the load capacity is reduced by 40% compared to the basic load
Telescopic slides cannot be used for vertical mounting (up and down), overhang, excessive heat, corrosive environment or dust.
Maintenance and Lubrication:
The telescopic slides are supplied with a light lubrication. Additional grease can be added as needed to allow for optimum life.
Under normal working conditions, it is recommended that the slides be lubricated at least every 20,000 cycles, although this depends greatly on the actual conditions and atmosphere of the application.
Under critical working conditions, the slides must be lubricated more frequently.
Before lubricating, clean the raceways free of dirt and debris. With the carriage open, spread a sufficient amount of medium consistency lithium grease on the races between the inner and outer beams and then in the space between the ball bearings.
When used in aggressive conditions (humidity, dust, abrasive materials, etc.), ensure regular maintenance with complete cleaning of the telescopic slides followed by lubrication.
